About Prince Edward

Prince Edward province is one of the four Atlantic provinces of Canada, with Charlottetown as its center, consisting of a large island with the same name and several small islands. This province has a smaller population and area than other Canadian provinces. The main industries of this province are agriculture, tourism, fishing, and industrial production, but on the other hand, other industries such as air and space industries, information technology, biological sciences, and renewable energies have also been welcomed.

Prince Edward Island Immigration Streams for Skilled Workers

Prince Edward Island has three main pathways for attracting skilled workers to the market of this province:

  • PEI PNP Express Entry
  • Labour Impact Category
  • Atlantic immigration Program

PEI PNP Express Entry

This Express Entry-aligned program lets eligible candidates interested in living and working in the Canadian province of Prince Edward Island (PEI) apply to the PEI Express Entry category. There are two pathways to Canadian permanent residence through this category, depending on whether or not the foreign national has a job offer in PEI or not.

Eligibility

In order to be eligible for this category, candidates must:

  • Have an Express Entry profile;
  • Be eligible for one of the three main federal economic class immigration programs: Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) or the Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
  • If you are a Post-Graduate Work Permit (PGWP) holder or a spousal open work permit holder
  • Your PGWP must have at least four months validity at the time you submit your EOI
  • Must have studied outside of PEI (or be a spouse to someone who studied outside PEI)
  • Must have at least nine months of work experience under a PEI employer

PEI Labour Impact Category

The Prince Edward Island (PEI) Labour Impact Category is designed to help foreign nationals with a valid job offer and support from a PEI employer with a pathway get their Canadian permanent residence. This immigration category is composed of three pathways, each with their own set of eligibility requirements:

  • Skilled Worker Stream
  • Critical Worker Stream
  • International Graduate Stream

Skilled Worker Stream

Eligibility

In order to be eligible for this category, candidates must have:

  • A valid job offer in an eligible occupation (NOC Level: 0,A,B)
  • At least a two-year post-secondary degree or diploma
  • At least two years of full-time work experience in the past five years
  • A valid work permit if you live in Canada
  • Legal status in your country of residence if you live outside Canada

Critical Worker Stream

Eligibility

In order to be eligible for this category, candidates must:

  • Have a valid job offer in one of these positions:
    • Truck driver
    • Customer service representative
    • Labourer
    • Food and beverage server
    • Housekeeping attendant
  • Have worked at least six months full-time for the PEI employer
  • Hold a work permit in Canada
  • Have at least a high school education
  • Have at least two years of work experience or relevant education in the past five years

International Graduate Stream

Eligibility

In order to be eligible for this category, candidates must:

  • Have a valid job offer in an eligible occupation (NOC Level: 0,A,B)
  • Must have worked for at least six months for the PEI employer in a position that is directly related to your education
  • Must hold a valid Post-Graduation Work Permit
  • Must have graduated, and received a post-secondary degree or diploma from an eligible PEI learning institution

Atlantic Immigration Program (Employer designation in Prince Edward Island)

Eligibility

To be eligible for the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) you must:

  • Meet the educational criteria
  • Meet the language criteria
  • Have qualifying work experience (except for specific international students)
  • Have a valid job offer and a letter a letter from the province
  • Show you have enough settlement funds

  • PEI Business Impact Category - Work Permit Stream

PEI Business Impact Category - Work Permit Stream

Prince Edward Island's Business Impact Category has a dedicated entrepreneur immigration pathway known as the Work Permit Stream which is designed for individuals interested in owning and operating a business on the island. Approved business applicants obtain a temporary work permit and later apply for Canadian permanent residence.

Eligibility

In order to be eligible for this category, candidates must:

  • Be between 21 and 59 years old
  • Have at least a secondary education
  • Meet the minimum language requirements of CLB 4
  • Have a minimum net worth of 600,000 $ CAD
  • Have transferable management skills or business ownership
  • Actively manage the proposed business from within PEI
